Meet Scott

For Scott Conger, Jackson has always been home. It's where his family's roots run deep, where he and his wife, Nikki, are raising their two children, Madelynn and Charlie, and where he's dedicated his life to serving others.

Guided by his faith and grounded in his family, Scott believes public service is both a privilege and a responsibility.

A graduate of South Side High School, Scott earned his bachelor's degree from Lane College and his MBA from Bethel University. Before becoming mayor, he held leadership roles at Lane College and the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation and served as President and CEO of United Way of West Tennessee.

Scott's public service began at the neighborhood level as president of the Lambuth Area Neighborhood Association. He was elected to the Jackson City Council in 2011 and became mayor in 2019, following two previous generations of his family who held the office.

An Eagle Scout and graduate of Leadership Jackson and WestStar, Scott is a past president of the Jackson Rotary Club and former Assistant Governor for Rotary International District 6760. His honors include the Senator Douglas Henry Outstanding Public Official Award, Lane College's 2023 Young Alumni Achievement Award, the Gene Smith Friend of Lambuth Award, the William H. Graves Sr. Humanitarian Award, Lane College's Tradition Award, and the UNCF Outstanding Young Alumni Award. He's also been recognized among Jackson's Forty Under 40 and Finest Young Professionals.

Since taking office, Scott has focused on strengthening Jackson's finances, improving public safety, and investing in the city's future. Under his leadership, Jackson has reduced its debt by approximately $20 million, lowered its property tax rate from $1.96 to $1.61, reached record police staffing, and attracted hundreds of millions of dollars in private investment.

His administration has also delivered Jackson's first dedicated Senior Activity Center, a new Animal Care Center, major street and park improvements, expanded neighborhood services, and modernized city government to improve efficiency, transparency, and accessibility.

Outside of serving as mayor, Scott enjoys coaching youth baseball, supporting his children's activities, and spending time with his family. His faith and family keep him grounded and remind him why building a stronger Jackson for future generations is so important.

Scott is grateful for the opportunity to serve his hometown and proud of what Jackson has accomplished together. With a vision that looks 10, 20, and 30 years ahead, he remains focused on making Jackson a safer, stronger, and more prosperous place for generations to come.

Built on results. Focused on the future.
